Jody is the Director of Global Sourcing - Food for H-E-B in San Antonio, Texas.  In this capacity, Mr. Hall is responsible for leading a dynamic team of 14 import & export development managers in the identification, development and sourcing of both Own Brands and international brands for H-E-B stores in both Texas and Mexico.  This includes setting the strategic vision for the direct imports of food and beverage products internationally for the Grocery, Produce, Bakery and Deli Departments as

 
 

H-E-B finds itself a player in the global marketplace.  His team is accountable for $500 million in sales.  In addition, Jody serves as H-E-B’s liaison with the foreign governmental and ambassadorial contacts as it pertains to developing international trade.  As the largest family owned supermarket in the USA, H-E-B was founded in 1905 and has an annual turnover of $15 billion.  

Jody has been worked at H-E-B for 20 years.  His career has spanned store operations along the US/Mexico border, regional grocery director, advertising manager, Business Development Manager (buyer accountable for $250 Million) and now five years as Director of Global Sourcing.   He has testified before the United States Federal Trade Commission and the Sub-Committee on General System of Preferences in Washington DC.  He participated in the World Economic Forum in Dalian, China in September 2007 as part of the Young Leaders Delegation.

While pursing his Masters in International Agri-Business, Jody worked at the United States Department of Agriculture’s FAS - Foreign Agricultural Service in Washington D.C. before finishing his degree at Texas A&M University.  A year of postgraduate studies at the University of Edinburgh, in Scotland was focused on the common agricultural policy of the European Union and it’s ramifications on trade with the US.  The year in Scotland was a pivotal point in Jody’s life and a determining factor in his continued interest and pursuit of global interests.  Today he serves as in an official capacity at the behest of the Scottish Government as a “Global Scot.”

An active member of the community, Jody is involved with a variety of organizations in San Antonio.   He is currently a member of the World Affairs Council of San Antonio; Free Trade Alliance of San Antonio; serves as 4-H Leader in Bexar County and as an AWANAs leader and has served as elder and chairmen of several committees at his church and is a current member of the Texas A&M Association of Former Students.
A fifth generation Texan, Jody met his wife Marion (originally a native of Madras, India but having grown up in England) while both were living and working in the South American country of Paraguay in the late 1980’s.  They have two sons, Joshua (13) and Ben (11) who hold dual passports (British and American citizenship.)   Theirs is a global family.
